About me

As an advocate for scholarship of teaching and learning and educational development that celebrates infinite diversity in infinite combinations, my mission as an educational developer is to help faculty nerd out about teaching and to use their big smart brains for increasing pedagogical self-efficacy.

I’m the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) at Syracuse University, supporting and empowering diverse faculty’s scholarly teaching, pedagogical reflection, and classroom innovation at every stage of their careers. As a collaborative campus leader, I prioritize building and sustaining strong communities; recognizing, documenting, and celebrating effective teaching practices; and increasing equitable teaching and learning environments for faculty, students, and staff.

A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, I have over twenty years of classroom experience, teaching courses on U.S. history, gender studies, and popular culture. I’m the editor of Teaching History: A Journal of Methods and Professor of Education at Syracuse University.
